5 Ways to Nurture Your Tired Soul

September 12, 2018

Have you been feeling drained mentally, physically and/ or spiritually?

Have you been bothered by those little things that you know should have no effect on you?

Have you been searching high and low for places to hide away from the world if even only for a few hours?

Then Goddess, that soul of yours may very well be tired.

In a world that tells you that you should be on ALL of the time, straying away from the hustle and bustle of your daily routine may appear quite selfish but guess what....do it anyways. We're often taught to be on the go, laboriously striving for success and as the famous Nike slogan states, "Just Do It". However, we rarely hear about the personal flowering that happens when you are present and simply being.

Truth is, I have days where the mere thought of getting out of bed is a challenge and socializing feels daunting. Understand that overexerting yourself, ignoring shadows and actively dismissing your current mood is a breeding ground for "the blues".  At times, taking one step back to take seven steps forward is needed. One primary way to move through those moments of exhaustion, self doubt or anxiousness is by nurturing yourself.

"At times, taking one step back to take seven steps forward is needed."

Here are a few ways to nurture and honor that tired soul of yours :

1 : Acknowledge

I know it sounds cliche but, Goddess you have to acknowledge where you're at and exactly how you feel. On occasion you may come to realize that acknowledging your feelings may change your entire perspective or mood. With clear intentions ask yourself, what exactly am I feeling right now? What do I need? What's the truth that I'm afraid to say?

These questions can be asked out loud to self or written down.

2: Journaling

Journaling allows you to release your thoughts and feelings on to paper. The beauty of journaling is that it can be done anywhere. You can simply use the notes app on your mobile device, jot quickly on a napkin or reach for your nearest notebook for a mental release. Studies have shown that there are no health benefits to keeping those dark feelings within. Your feelings are valid and it's time to release.

3: Breath & Move Your Body

I'm not saying pack your gym bag and run to your nearest dance or workout class because honestly, you may not feel up to it. However; you can roll around in your bed, turn on a feel good song and move your body as your called to. Before beginning to move take a second to identify what you need and your intentions. Keep in mind, there's no rules. If you need to cry, do it. If you need to scream, do it. If you need to lean against the wall and breath deeply, do it. Moving your body is a sure way to shift and release energy.

This moment is about you so be shamelessly selfish with your movement.

4: Find Solace

We've all been told before, " Girl, all you need to do is get out the house! " I'm here to tell you that you have the right to use your safe word, NO. When your soul is tired, going into a crowd of people or sitting around an energy filled brunch table is the last thing you may be interested in. Instead, try running yourself a bath, take a long shower, read, cook something delicious, go on a social media detox or lay down and catch up on that series you love. Look for the spaces that you feel most grounded, present and at peace.

5: Let Mother Nature Hold Space For You

I'm not asking for you to immerse yourself into a crowd but, I am suggesting that you immerse yourself into mother nature. Walk barefoot, listen to the musical sounds of nature and allow her to breath on you. There's restorative and healing energies right in your back yard. So, take your shoes off, put your phone down and get grounded.
