A Beginner's Guide To Yoni Eggs

What is this Yoni Egg thing all about?

If you've been wondering about Yoni Eggs and the benefits of practicing with one, I have you covered.

You will see me reference "Yoni" throughout this quick guide.

** “Yoni” is a Sanskrit word for the female genitalia that means “sacred space.” Its symbol has been worshiped in Eastern cultures since ancient times for bestowing life, creativity, and love.

What are Yoni Eggs?

Yoni Eggs also known as Jade Eggs are names for lovely semiprecious stones carved into an egg shape and polished to be worn inside the vagina. The Yoni/Jade Egg practice is said to have originated in China over 2,000 years ago and was practiced by the emperor’s concubines to maintain a strong and healthy vagina.

What are the benefits of a Yoni Egg practice?

There many physical benefits of a consistent Yoni Egg practice; such as increased libido, strengthening of the pelvic floor, and enhanced sexual pleasure. Due to trauma, sexual experiences and so much more, we are often disconnected from our Yoni. A Yoni Egg practice lovingly reconnects you to the muscles and sensations in and around your Yoni. When you practice with a Yoni Egg you're engaging muscles that bring sensory awareness to the pelvic floor and vagina. In return, you gain greater control of your vaginal muscles and may become more orgasmic and juicy.

Similar to owning any other crystal type, each Yoni Egg has its onset of metaphysical properties and corresponds with specific chakras. For example, you have symptoms and the crystals provide the energetic “treatment” and balance.

Another amazing benefit of a Yoni Egg practice is the sense of feminine grounding and sensory awareness that it brings. While practicing with a Yoni Egg you’re forced to slow down, focus on pelvic floor engagement, posture, and breath. This prompts you to bring your attention to the present. Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm fade when you’re in a state of mindfulness. A Yoni Egg practice gently guides you into a place of flow.

Beginning a Yoni Egg practice is a beautiful way to cultivate a healthy and more loving relationship with not only your yoni but, your entire being. Yes, you will see the physical benefits of a consistent practice but, the spiritual connection to self cannot be measured. Ultimately, the practice is something one experiences and feels the benefits of on her own.

What does a "certified" Yoni Egg mean?

A "certified" Yoni Egg or GIA "certified" Yoni Egg means that the Yoni Egg has been certified by the Gemological Institute of America. Certified Yoni Eggs ensures you that the Jade or Yoni Eggs you are receiving is authentic, safe, and pure gemstones. It's very important to make sure that the Yoni Eggs you are purchasing is authentic. You want to be very cautious about an internal practice with any Yoni Egg that has not been certified by GIA.

Here at Sugar and Sage, we offer GIA Certified Yoni Eggs only. One piece of each stone/batch has been tested for authenticity.

What is the difference between a drilled and non-drilled Yoni Egg?

Although drilled Yoni Eggs are common for beginner Yoni Egg practitioners, this is a personal preference and there's no right or wrong answer.

The reason for the drilled hole is so a string can be attached to the Yoni Egg for easy removal (similar to a tampon). The majority of women new to the Yoni Egg practice are afraid the egg will get stuck but rest assured that it can not happen. With the natural weight of the egg, it will find its way out, especially when you have relaxed your muscles and give a little push.

In the beginning, you may prefer some assistance with the string as you get to know your Yoni Egg and sacred space, but a simple push is all you really need…and maybe the assistance of your fingers.

Which crystal type do I choose?

There are many crystal types available online, however, be sure to do your research. Not all crystal types are safe to be worn inside of the Yoni. A few of the most common and safe crystal types are Rose Quartz, Nephrite Jade, and Black Obsidian. There are many other crystal types that are 100% safe to be worn inside of the Yoni however, be sure that they have been authenticated and certified by the Gemological Institute of America.

Trust your intuition and choose a crystal type that resonates most with you. A Yoni Egg practice is a personal one and intuitively you know which stone is right for you.

How do I cleanse the Yoni Egg?

Physically cleansing your Yoni Egg is an important part of any Yoni Egg practice.

Begin by washing your Yoni Egg twice in warm water with natural

body wash/soap.

Next, open your drilled Yoni Egg kit.

( Drilled Yoni Egg kits are complimentary when you purchase a Sugar and Sage Yoni Egg ;) )

Using the pipe cleaner, thoroughly cleanse the drilled hole at the top of the Yoni Egg.

Now, boil a pot of water, then remove the water from the stove. Let the water cool for 3-5 minutes. Place your Yoni Egg in the water for 12-15 minutes.

* Please do not boil your egg, it might cause it to crack.

Re-string your freshly cleansed Yoni Egg with new Yoni Egg string, and you're now ready to begin your practice!

**Please be sure to thoroughly cleanse your Yoni Egg and replace the drilled Yoni Egg string before each use.

How do I insert the Yoni Egg?

Prepare for your practice by setting the mood and warming up the Yoni. Allow the mind to rest and really focus your energy on your feminine essence. Ignite the Yoni with a gentle breast or nipple massage.

What if I need a lubricant? You can use any lubricant type however, I suggest using a lubricant that is all-natural and organic. The most common lubricant used is organic coconut oil.

The best position for insertion is lying down in a butterfly position. When you're ready gently insert the Yoni Egg into the vaginal canal larger side first. Do not push the Yoni Egg to deeply towards the cervix, simply insert the Yoni Egg just past the vaginal opening and allow your vaginal muscles to do the rest of work.

How long do I leave the Yoni Egg in?

Yes, Yoni Eggs are perfect for kegel exercises but, simply carrying wearing your Yoni Egg engages the pelvic floor. If you find it challenging to "hold on to" the Yoni Egg when you move or stand, begin with 15-20 minutes practice sessions. Rhythmically engaging the pelvic floor along with your breath.

The more comfortable you become in your practice you can leave your Yoni Egg in for up to 12 hours however, you don't want to overwork the pelvic floor.

Ultimately this is your practice, trust your intuition.

Practice with your crystal a few times a week and after a few sessions expect to feel embodied, grounded, and

aware of your sensual feminine energy!

Remember, you have the right to reclaim your body, your Yoni power, and all of your sensual feminine energy.
